While my time in New York, I went to my first Ateez cafe. This cafe was in celebration of the youngest member, Jongho. His birthday was on October 12th so a group of Atiny, Ateez’s fandom name, coordinated this event. The atmosphere was so lively and everyone was so happy to be around fans just like themselves. There was a good amount of diversity as well, people from all different walks of life and ethnicity attended this event. There were cup sleeves and pictures scattered all around the cafe as well as Ateez’ whole discography playing in the background.
Half way through the event, the host had an idea of doing a random dance play, this lifted everyone’s energy and made everyone very hype. It was a good idea on the hosts part because it just made everyone come together. I talked with some Atiny’s while at the cafe and they expressed how they are happy events like this take place because it not only gives them something to look forward to, but it is also an amazing way to meet new friends. They also appreciated how a rookie group like Ateez has fan made events like this because it shows that no matter the size of the group, the fans can connect with each other in person and their love for the group only grows. I believe this is something that should continue in the future. Events like this give fans a break from their reality even for a couple of hours. In the upcoming weeks, there will be an Ateez anniversary in New York as well as Boston (flyers are below). If you enjoy meeting new people that share the same interest or just want a break from life, I highly suggest checking one of these cafe’s out!
