Deshalia Murray Following the success of their previous album ROCK-STAR from 2023 and their collab with Charlie Puth for 2024 single “Lose My Breath,” The eight member JYP boy group is back. The 9th Mini Album consists of songs “ MOUNTAIN” “Chk Chk Boom,” “JJAM,” “I Like It,” “Runners,” “또 다시 밤 (twilight),” “Stray Kids,” “Chk Chk Boom (Festival Ver.).”
“MOUNTAIN,” “JJAM,” “Chk Chk Boom,” and “Runners” are the sound we know and love, each containing heavy bass, experimental beats and confidence building lyrics. “I Like It” is a classic love song with a pop sound and softer vocals and raps. However, what is a Stray Kids album without a song that is groovy and more slow paced. “또 다시 밤 (twilight)” is a beautiful arrangement that prove that Stray Kids isn’t just a “noise” band, but has diverse takes on their album sounds. Lastly, “Stray Kids” is the rightful final song. This song reminds us of previous tracks from their discography like “Voices” or “Levanter”. The song is a self empowering piece for the group itself. We get self affirming lyrics that give fans a more personal feeling of connection with the group. The “Chk Chk Boom” music video begins with the first cameo from Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds from Marvel’s “Deadpool & Wolverine” (a nod to SKZ’s feature on the movie’s soundtrack). The duo set the scene for the boys to terrorize the city Stray Kids style while we get stunning visuals that mix the group’s style with a vigilante-esque aesthetic similar to Deadpool’s. While Stay are used to the cinematic excellence from the group, it was fun to see a new spin to their respective sound and look. The choreography for this track is high energy and groovy, a perfect combination for the innovative video. ATE is now streaming on all platforms, please show Strays Kids love and follow The B.E.L.U Lineup for the latest in music!
